There are different types of sounds in the rock world today. Many of the bands today are trying to follow a sound that has already been invented and are trying to become more mainstream, and then there’s We Are Harlot. Since the departure from Asking Alexandria, Danny Worsnop was able to showcase a sound that was waiting for it to be unleashed. When their single, Denial was released it turned a lot of heads towards the band, anticipating the debut of their first self titled album. As promised, their first album release had superior, 80’s heavy riffs, a mixture of Van Halen and Aerosmith. Songs like Denial and Dancing on Nails who were previously released made people go out and grab this record, only to find more new favorites like Never Turn Back, Dirty Little Thing, and their hit today, Someday.
We Are Harlot came to Dallas a couple of months ago, being part of a big event with many great bands, their day was short. This time around there were only 3 bands giving them enough time to show off their talent to the people in Dallas. Starting their set with their hit Denial, with its awesome guitar solo during this track We Are Harlot started off with a thunderous ovation, making the fans crave more of this “rock n roll madness” One of the highlights of the night was during the track Someday, everyone seems to enjoy the tempo and the meaning of the song. Also during this song Danny sings his heart out, showing a lot of emotion, emotion that from the front row to the last row can see and hear. His vocal performance was definitely top notch during this track.
Worsnop also mentioned that Dallas was his favorite place to perform in, and living there for some time he knew the fans were “rowdy” ones and they weren’t gonna disappoint, and they didn’t! Songs like The One and Dancing On Nails were well received. The One changed the atmosphere to a more dance type of feel but yet still having those awesome rock n roll riffs in the back. Dancing On Nails were one of the crowd favorites as they were several fans singing along and moving their head to the beat of the music. The band also performed an amazing rendition of Queen’s Tie Your Mother Down. Everyone instantly gravitated towards that awesome song and started singing along with Worsnop.
The night closed with One More Night, this track is the most brutal, heart-pounding, wildest ride on the album and it was a very powerful and very effective song live. Simply the best way to end a show that was nothing but pure rock and roll. At the end of the set the crowd gave a loud ovation. Fans enjoyed this set, and there were thousands of new fans made. We Are Harlot is different from any band, they stand in their own level, from Bruno’s awesome drum beats, Jeff’s magnificent guitar riffs and solos, Brian thunderous bass skills, to Danny’s unique and incredible vocals, We Are Harlot is the band that’s proving that “Rock” is not dead.
