This Day in Music – September 9th

This Day In Music: September 9th, 1968

On this day, The Beatles recorded ‘Helter Skelter’ while working at Abbey Road studios on The White Album. John Lennon honked on a saxophone and strummed base, while roadie Mal Evans offered his best attempt at playing trumpet. During which, Paul McCartney of course recorded his lead vocal, and George Harrison paraded about the studio whilst holding a flaming ashtray above his head. Don’t we all wish we could’ve been a fly on the wall for that?!
